Henry & Angie and TomSaturday, rain showers kept us home until noon. We fixed Toms weight belt, replaced the cord on his speargun, Tom purchased a better SS anchor rope that stayed away from his feet. On the trip out on flat seas we assisted a woman adrift about half mile from the blimp site boat ramp. She and her crew at the ramp were so thankful we came along. Rain was light and calm as we anchored at Johnson for Tom to enjoy the clear water and catch 3 more bugs to his totals. Capt. H followed Tom to dive the center area. For an hour I thought maybe I forgot what a lobster looked like, but then I did see a short and came in after a fun dive. Our trip home was cool, a little rain, and only Angie did not dive for the number of jellyfish seen from the boat. Knuckles stayed home this trip.

Tom, Henry & Angie & KnuckleFriday, with Tom visiting we started our adventure at 2 pm, six day since Helene brushed Cudjoe with 60 mph gusts. Our trip to gps Angie1z was direct with incoming tide over the flats. The east breeze was 15 kts. and when anchored the boat was rocky. Tom dove and caught one bug covering a great area with good vizability. They were very scarce. We moved to gps Tcut and Tom dove again when Angie felt it was too rough. He caught just one more bug but covered good areas for lobsters in his dive north for another hour.

Henry & Angie and KnucklesAfter taking Fernanda to the airport at 6 am Angie said the weather was calm and would like to check out her new gps Angie1z in the Gulf. The waters were calm as we left the dock at 9:30 am. The King tide had waters lower than normal at low tide so we took the long way out. Once at the site, the SS would not stay running but Angie found the gas was shut off and when that was fixed she shoved off to a slack current and just beginning of the incoming tide. Knuckles and I watched as storms loomed in many areas of the Gulf, with lightening and thunder. I moved the boat several times, and kept watch for Angie. At one point I needed to check out the water around the boat, it was comfortable but to my surprise I could not get up the dive platform as my hands slipped without gloves. Knuckles would look over the side and just shake his head and say "?you fool, get your ass back in the boat and keep me company". I did but only when I used my shirt to grab the slippery hand holds of the platform. Angie dove for 3 hours, and when she called for the boat she had 2 lobsters in a ledge she was having a problem catching, and asked if I would like a try. The current at this time was swift and two attempts to anchor on site were unsuccessful and Angie came to the boat with 10 nice bugs to take home. Needless to say I was extremely proud of her determination and stamina to go out when she was so tired.

Fernanda Gonzalez; Henry & Angie & KnucklesWednesday, the weather was calm, we loaded the boat and left the dock at 8:30 am. Trip out to gps Tcut was uneventful. Angie was first in and she worked her way to the center, as the tide just turned from low to high. After 2 hr. Angie called for the boat and had six bugs to her name. I took my time following a PB&J sandwich and knew when I dove the current, it would be swift as we were having a King Tide event. It was not a easy dive for me, and from what I heard from our neighbors who turned us on to the area, that they quit until the tide turned about 2 pm. I called for the boat following a half hour dive and caught one. The one I caught was a challenge, had to use my hand to get him out.
We then moved to let Fernanda dive with the SS in shallower water and better viability. Could not find coral heads until we stopped at gps Sandy in 16'. Viz was better, but Fern could not clear her ears and did not have enough weight to follow Angie to the bottom. Angie checked several heads in the area and came back empty handed. We took Johnson Cut back home and arrived at 2 pm. -

Fernanda Gonzalez; Henry & Angie & KnucklesWith our guest Fernanda from Mexico visiting we loaded the boat and left our dock 9:30 am with King Tide flooding the lower seawalls and 12" from ours. The trip out met rain from Blimp Is. to our trip to gps Angie1. Eventually the sun came out, Angie dove her area and caught one bug but we lost our catch bag due to broken line. Fernanda dove with Angie to bring her a extra catch bag. The viz was only 10'. We motored out to the coral heads and ledges between Sawyer & Content and Henry pulled over good area but no bugs. Angie & Fernanda anchored the boat and dove to enjoy the view. We all had a lovely day.
